I like coffee. I've dabbled in different brewing methods, but I wanted to know more about it. This book is a 101-type guide to coffee - meaning it has broad information on just about everything you could want to know about coffee. There's info on where it's grown, how it's harvested, roasted, sorted, ground, brewed, and what you can do with the leftover grounds. There's help on how to choose the right home grinder or type of brewer, and even some ways to roast and brew at home. There's even a section of terms that can help you order what you really want at the ubiquitous coffee shop.This is a great book for the person who enjoys coffee and needs a jumping-off point to learn how to make a better cup for themselves. It's written in a very easy-to-understand style - not too casual or conversational, but not too scientific or academic, either. I could even see a student using this book to do a report on coffee, if they so desired.(I received this product for review purposes. My opinions are my own. I will be the first one to admit it, I am not a coffee drinker. At all. Actually do not like the taste of it. But after reading this book, I am thinking that I might give coffee a try…again.This book was fascinating. It covered everything from how/where to grow coffee, how it is picked, different ways to brew/roast it, different machines to brew it in…the list goes on and on. The author even included a list of countries (and one animal…lol)where the best coffee comes from.Like I said, a fascinating book!!!Will I read it again? YesWill I reccomend it to family and friends? If you ever have had questions or curiosities about coffee, this is the guide for you! This guide is fantastic! A great in depth engaging guide to take a moment and learn more about a beverage that most of us down each and every morning. I loved the way the author made me want to continue to read. I can sometimes have problems with my attention span when I read non fiction like books, but I had no issues with that at all with this book.Highly recommend this read. But be warned. . . Wow! I wasn't aware there were so many different ways to make a single cup of coffee. This book gives you a quick history on anything related to coffee. From where the beans are picked, to the different ways the beans are roasted, lastly, to the different ways the coffees are brewed. This is very informative and allows me to treat my palate instead of just chugging down random coffee and simply liking the flavor.I will say that I wont be thinking my day is better with a trip to Starbucks now that I know of the varieties and blends of different flavors.Can't wait to go to my grocery store and try a few different ones and step out of my comfort zone.I received this product for free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
